NorCal Sabeel is a nonprofit, tax-exempt, San Francisco Bay Area-based group dedicated to organizing and participating in events that advance peace and justice for Palestinians. Our mission is to advocate for Palestinian human rights and amplify the voices of Palestinians. We are affiliated with Friends of Sabeel North America (FOSNA), a Christian ecumenical non-profit organization. We condemn all acts of violence against human life, whether committed by states, individuals, or groups.

Sept 16: “The Trump administration has approved a $2.8 billion sale of heavy bombs to Israel, according to a U.S. official, in what would be among the largest deliveries of U.S. munitions there even as American public support for the country declines.”– NYT. Unfortunately, a congressional hold is not necessarily sufficient to stop the transfer. The Trump adminstration has previously invoked emergency authorities to bypass congressional review. See Oakland People’s Arms Embargo (OPAE) campaign to pressure FedEx & Oakland Port into non-cooperation.

Aug 17: “Amid genocide, Palestinian participation in Israel’s elections must be reimagined”, by Areej Sabbagh-Khoury , Associate Professor of Sociology at UC (Berkeley) and a senior lecturer at Jerusalem’s Hebrew University. He argues that participation in upcoming elections is necessary to confront Israel’s ongoing “sociopoliticide”of Palestinian social and political life, both in Israel 48 and the Occupied Territories.

May 5: Israeli army chief, Maj Gen Avi Bluth, says West Bank troops are ‘killing like we haven’t killed since 1967’, and also creating “a lot of ‘limping monuments’ in Palestinian villages of those who tried to [cross the barrier], so there is a price being paid,” he said.
